Waiting For The Prediction

“We remain on high alert,” said Tim Mahoney, the vice mayor of Fargo. “We’re not going to stop until it truly starts going down. It’s not over.”

In Fargo, N.D. local officials and fellow residents piled sandbags and built dikes and secure levees for the past week in an effort to prepare for the rise of the Red River, predicted to crest at 42 feet or higher over the weekend. But, forecasters determined that early Saturday morning the river actually crested at a lower level than predicted and seemed, at least for now, to be dropping.
